AIHD 20th Anniversary Celebration and Strategic Plan Launch - Sarova Panafric, Nrb 20th September, 2024.


Nairobi, 20 September 2024-The government says it is committed to working in partnership with county governments, and international partners to formulate policies on key development issues including health, social protection, HIV and AIDS, poverty alleviation, gender, nutrition, and health promotion at the national, regional and global levels.

This was said by the principal secretary of the State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards, Mary Muthoni Muriuki during an occasion to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the African Institute for Health and Development (AIHD).

"The AIHD work aligns with Kenya's development and global goals such as the constitution of Kenya 2010, Vision 2030, Kenya Health Policy 2014-2030, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among others", she said.

For the past twenty years, AIHD embarked on a mission to transform the health landscape of our communities. The Institute's main focus is on implementing evidence-based programming, conducting research, training, and advocacy on health and development issues that are contextually relevant to the African continent.

During the occasion, the PS also presided over the launch of the 2024-2029 Strategic plan which outlines AIHD's vision, 'An Africa where people live in dignity'.

Others present during the occasion were the Director General for Heath, Dr. Patrick Amoth, and AIHD board members including the founder Dr. Mary Amuyunzu Nyamongo, Executive Director Alice Sinkeet, and Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi.
