Kenya National Drama and Film Festival (KNDFF) Promotes Tax Literacy and Creativity in Embu



The Kenya National Drama and Film Festival (KNDFF) has officially kicked off in Embu, with schools from across the nation showcasing thrilling talents segmented into various themes, including tax literacy. This marks the first time the festival is being held in  Embu County, bringing together participating schools and colleges from all 47 counties in the country.

 

Now in its 62nd Edition, this year's festival is themed "Unlocking Opportunities for Socio-Economic Transformation Through Drama and Film." The festival is not only a celebration of creativity but also a platform to promote important socio-economic topics.

 

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has collaborated with the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival (KNDFF) Steering Committee to bolster tax literacy among students and the public through the creative arts. Tax literacy being a fundamental pillar in advancing the socio-economic development agenda, the partnership aims to enlighten the public on the significance of tax compliance and how tax revenue supports the development of our nation through the presentations.

 

"Tax literacy is key to our nation's growth, and we are excited to collaborate with the KNDFF to educate and empower the youth and the public through creative arts," said Grace Wandera, Deputy Commissioner of Marketing and Communication, Kenya Revenue Authority.

 

Throughout the festival, audiences will witness presentations and performances that aim to empower them with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the tax landscape effectively. This initiative highlights the importance of every citizen's contribution to the nation's development through tax compliance.

Strong collaborations with industry and TVET Institutes in East Africa have resulted in improved employment

Nairobi, Kenya,  6 October 2025…. TVET institutes in East Africa have established strong collaborations with industry, resulting in improved graduate employment across the region. Graduate employment, among 16 Regional Flagship Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutes in Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania - under the World Bank–funded East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration Project (EASTRIP) - has risen to 80 per cent within six months of graduation.   This is up from 47 per cent before the project began. Knight Frank: Kenya's wealthy retreat from 'lifestyle' investments and move to revenue generation as the economy slows

  Kenya's wealthy are adjusting their investment strategies in response to rising global economic uncertainty, shifting away from residential and foreign assets in favour of more liquid, higher-yielding opportunities within the country. This is according to the global property consultant Knight Frank's Wealth Report: Kenya Edition – Attitudes Survey 2025. The report highlights that there is a marked pivot towards investments in food production and technology, reflecting a strategic emphasis on resilience and growth.   The report further notes that the growth in both the number and wealth of High Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs) in 2024 was more subdued compared to previous years, with over 60% of wealth managers reporting an increase of less than 10% in HNWIs from 2024 to 2025.
